Striking Facts about Depression in Today's Teen Girls

Teenage the age between 13 years to 19 years is the period when hormones kick in, peer pressures escalate and academic expectations loom large. Kids start to become more aware during this period. Research has shown that this whole mix of changes can tend to increase anxiety and depression in teens.
It is found that girls during their teen are prone to depression compared to boys of the same age. It was also found that the increase in the social media is the major cause of depression. Despite the development of women power in different organisations and societies, increase in the women employment and salaries they are constantly being bombarded by the media and society as the way they look, flirty messages humour.
Hence one should try to reduce teens' feelings of being "left out" or judged. This can be done by inculcating a course in the mindfulness which is a form of meditation that has been shown to offer measurable health benefits and can help reduce anxiety and depression.
Mindfulness training teaches the value of solitude and can help practitioners calm the urge to constantly check the phone — a useful skill for people of all ages and gender. Hence it is recommended that parents, teachers, counselors, family doctors should always lookout the child’s behavior. A very slight change in this behavior when taken into immediate action can benefit the child to overcome depression. Symptoms can include changes in sleep patterns, appetite or energy, or a growing inability to pay attention and concentrate.

Try the following to avoid depression:
  •    Give importance to your child’s ideas and ideology
  •     Insist to take regular sleep patterns
  •     Encourage exercise
  •     Focus on the good things and encourage them to do the best
  •     Help your child learn to cope with stress and failures
  •     Build your child's belief in his own abilities
  •      Increase her feeling of personal control

Even just one counselling session to evaluate such symptoms, can help get teens back on the right track.
